We went to breakfast and I had eggs Benedict which I only have when I’m away…I just gained 5lbs..eating is as good as a cruise help!
We packed our bags got on the bus for a very very long ride thru Montana the long way to Yellowstone park. Yes we had pit stops every 2-3 hrs and we did stop at a McDonalds for lunch..only because there was no other choice..it’s Montana. We did come across some road repair that took a while.
The scenery was unlike any other place I have seen. Almost all was hay fields with tons of cows, occasional sheep horses everywhere, but a handful each ranch. The ranches were gigantic as far as you could see. Then on either side there were very tall MTns. I don’t know how the folks live so remotely from one another. Occasionally you would see several homes in one area, but it was rare. The entire state we saw 1 Walmart, I think in the middle. There was running water and rivers, creeks, lakes which were pretty. There was a railroad that seem to follow us the entire way.
Yellowstone seems rather different. We traveled to our lodge for about an hour into the park. In that time we saw elk, bison, deer, many men standing in the water fishing..that’s freezing cold!
It appears there are a lot of small trees, lots of avalanches along the mountains, a lake formed by an earthquake, and many deciduous pines which apparently loose their pine needles and survive a forest fire which they seem to have a lot of here. We go with a ranger tomorrow.
Oh I forgot to mention, yes the land is steaming here and there, and there is snow on the ground and when we arrived it was 42 degrees it wasn’t night yet!
There was a mess up getting to the right lodge, no elevator..I’m lucky to have a strong man, but many didn’t and they had to get butlers to bring luggage. And other stuff. So settling in was not so smooth. We ate dinner with these 4 older ladies who were a hoot! They are so cute and it’s marvelous to see them enjoying themselves! Oh I had bison burger..yummo!
