Sept 15 Yellowstone natl park Wyoming

Today we do the parks lower loop. We have breakfast at the buffet and don’t overdo it.  We catch the bus and a Park Ranger is coming to discuss the things we see.  He was awesome and so knowledgeable.  For example, we saw the old faithful geiser. But he explained the boiling earth a hot spring, a mud pie and fumeroil, which smells like rotten eggs.

The park is know for its animals  and special sites along the park.  As for animals we saw bison, elk, a swan of sorts but didn’t get its head out long enough for a picture a trumpeter?.  I was disappointed not to see a grisly bear, others did.  Or black bears. You got to be lucky.

Otherwise, besides the old faithful which shoots water every 90 mins for about 15 seconds if that and it’s over.  To me what was just as remarkable is how the park is smokin and bubbling all around.  Old faithful is the largest and most dependable.

But we saw other stuff, like a canyon of rocks with spectacular colors and a waterfall.  We saw a huge lake, 2 different lodges in the park one built of wood in dramatic swirls and bends and is one of the oldest in the park. Then a very modern one. Both built by the same guy!

The park is packed with  RVs and people everywhere, reservations not to be had anywhere. It’s an interesting experience, to do once, but I liked glacier more the park itself everywhere is so beautiful and dramatic.  This park has green pencil like pines that regenerate thru fire or weed out thru growth.

One other thing, we are located over 7,000 ft above sea level. apparently it causes folks to loose their breathe. It was a long day we had dinner, showers and bed ; up early for another day onward to the grand Teton.

Some pics of today there are so many to choose from  some may not upload
